I am a native Texan, born in Houston December 27. 1949. I grew up going to private school and then onto the University of Houston for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design. After working as a freelance designer in Houston for 15 years, my husband, a freelance musician, and I decided we could be starving artists in a prettier place. Thus we packed up and moved to Los Angeles in 1986.

I continued to freelance in Hollywood and then became a partner in a Graphic Design Firm after a few years. At 50, when I began to age out of the graphic design world, I went back to school and got a BA in Psychology (2003) and an MA in Educational Technology from California State University in 2007 at the ripe old age of 57.

I had an unsatisfying career as a high school teacher in Los Angeles Unified School District and decided we needed to move back to Texas on a Tuesday afternoon, 3 weeks into the Spring Semester of my fifth year of teaching. I really hated teaching in inner city schools and was about to lose my mind! I never burn bridges but I scorched that one. The teachers and principal were very angry with me. When I left on that Tuesday, I never went back… not even to finish out the week. I was done!

So after a successful run of 25 years in LA, we moved back to Texas (Houston Area) about 6 weeks after I quit my teaching job (causing quite a ruckus) in the middle of the semester . I never fit in that world and couldn’t wait to close that door.

Since 2011, the year we moved back, both our careers have continued and are flourishing, making music and art, our true loves. We love our little country Craftsman Bungalow that we had built on 3 acres just 35 miles northeast of Houston. It is our little paradise.

Nowadays, I also work part time as a SP (standardized patient) for UT Med School, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A and M Medical School and Texas Chiropractic College. I act out potential illnesses or conditions to student doctors. We are given a script and must follow it exactly. I love the work. Who would have ever thought that after 25 years in LA that I would move back to Texas and get an acting gig!
